How to Podcast

    This is still a work in progress. If you already know about this stuff go here for the quick instructions on how to get the content on to this site. 

    First: What is Podcasting? Well the easiest way to describe
it is to say that it is a way for people who have information (lectures,
announcements, music recordings, etc) to get it to people who are interested in
that information (Students) in a fairly simple manner.  When you make a
podcast available on the internet, then others can subscribe to the
podcast.  The software that they
subscribe with will notify them when there is an update to the podcast and
download it.  A more thorough explanation would be on the online wikipedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast).  

Second: What do I need to make the podcast recording? First
you need a microphone and a device to record your information with.  There are a few different combinations that
will work.

1. Laptop Computer + Microphone + Audacity(Free recording Software).
2. iPod(With recording Device attachment) + iTunes
3. Some other Digital recorder that will give you an MP3 or other compatible file. 

Third: I have my file now what?

1. Sign up for an account on this website here (Quick and Easy).
2. Then email the webmaster using the contact form and ask for permissions on the site to upload podcasts.
3. Once you have confirmation move onto step 4.

Fourth: Uploading the Podcast.

There are two parts to this.

1. First make a Playlist by clicking on the following links…
1. Create Content -> Playlist

                                                              
i. Give the Playlist a good Name. Like “BHS – Your Name Period

How to Podcast (Quick Instructions)

1. Create an account on the site.
2. Contact the Webmaster and ask for permissions on the site.
3. Follow the instructions below 

After logging in click on Create Content -> Playlist(The playlist should be descriptive of your content. Science Club Weekly Podcast, etc... The playlist is something that you can keep adding to.  Playlists also have their own Podcast feed that can be subscribed to.)Assuming you have an MP3 (MP3 would be best...)Create Content -> AudioFill in Required fields.  Highlight the playlist that you want the file to belong to. Note that uploading takes a bit of time depending on the size of the file. It might take a few minutes even. Not fun to watch (no progress indicator). As long as the browser thing is spinning it is working...

Subscribing to the Podcasts

First thing you will need is a program that can read a podcast.  We recommend using iTunes from Apple.  If you are on a Macintosh you most likely have this program. If not you need to go here and download it for free from Apple's website. Once you have the program installed you need to subscribe to the BHS podcast "feed". To subscribe to the BHS podcast just click here.

If you are not using iTunes but something else you can follow this link to see what you should type into your program
